Breitling, one of the world's most prestigious watch makers, is to sponsor a magnificent charity ball celebrating the 'golden age of aviation'. The glittering event will take place during the inaugural More Bus Bournemouth Air Festival on Saturday 30th August 2008 at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC).
Launched in Switzerland in 1884, Breitling is firmly established as one of the largest manufacturers of mechanical chronographs in the world and is supporting the Ball in association with Charles Fox, Bournemouth's family-owned and long established fine jeweller.
Coinciding with the inaugural More Bus Bournemouth Air Festival, the Breitling Ball represents the Festival's major prestigious charity event, and is themed to celebrate aviation milestones during the golden era of flying from the 1920's to 1940's.
Organisers are promising an exciting and elegant event with senstional entertainment, a fabulously evocative theme, and the opportunity for 300 and more guests to dress up in period '20s to '40s evening wear if they prefer a change to black tie.
Charity Auction The charity auction will feature the chance to bid for a thrilling once-in-a-lifetime flight courtesy of the Breitling Jet Team. This exceptional prize includes first class travel to and from Dijon, France, with one nights accommodation for two at a beautiful 5-star chateau in the heart of the Burgundy region.
The following morning, the prize winner will be taken to Dijon airfield, the home of the Breitling Jet Team. Consisting of seven L39 Albatros fighter jets, piloted by French ex-military dislay pilots from the Patrouilee de France, this is the only civilian aerobatics jet team in the world equipped to fly with a passenger in the rear seat.
Flying in formation whilst performing aerobatic manoeuvres, the winner will experience first hand the G-force power and precision of flying in a fast jet.
A "Big Bang" Another highlight of the evening will be the RAF sponsored Firework Display on Bournemouth Seafront. Guests will have the chance to view this wonderful display from the venue at 10 pm.
How to get involved Tickets include drinks on arrival, dinner with wine and entertainment. Individual ticket price is £70, or a table of 12 for a reduced price of £770. Smaller tables are available on request. Tickets are limited and are sold on a first-come first-served basis. All prices include VAT.
All monies raised on the evening will be donated to the British Disabled Flying Association, the Bournemouth Mayor's Charities and the Bournemouth Red Arrows Association supporting the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
